William Shuttleworth is a 71-year-old U.S. Air Force Veteran and retired educator and psychologist who became well-known for his 109 day walk across America, “Vets Don’t Forget Vets.” His goal was to help promote awareness for the many struggles that veterans deal with once they return home including everything from homelessness, addiction, PTSD, fair pay, and more. On his cross-country journey, which people could follow on Facebook and on his website, William met, shared, and talked to as many other veterans as he could. After his minimal expenses, all additional funds raised were donated to Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust. Though his walk is complete, William continues to support his fellow veterans and raise awareness for veteran issues through his blog and in his home state of Massachusetts.
